Congratulations on your progress in the admission process! I’m glad that you are interested in studying computer science with us. You are about to start a program that is not only professional and practical but, most importantly, flexible – right from the beginning, you will be able to choose the direction that excites and interests you the most.
However, before you dive into your studies, there are still a few formal steps you need to complete. In this email, you’ll find an overview of the most important ones – especially how and when to submit your high school diploma in order to receive the final admission decision.
Additionally, we have prepared some practical information to help you get oriented both at the university and in Brno – from dormitories and dining halls to tips on how to make the most of student life. And don’t worry, you won’t be left on your own at the beginning. We’ll go through everything together during the "Jump on FI" event in the first week of your first semester, which will help you get to know the faculty and meet your new classmates.
I wish you a smooth completion of the admission process and look forward to meeting you!
Jiří Barnat Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University

To be able to issue the final decision on your admission, you need to provide proof of completed secondary education.
➡️ From May 19, 2025, and no later than June 19, 2025, please upload an authorized conversion of your high school diploma to your e-application. A step-by-step guide on how to do this is available on our website.
👉 If you don’t manage to submit the diploma on time or forget to do so, you can request an alternative deadline for submitting your diploma (August 26, 2025). Please send your request by email to studijni@fi.muni.cz no later than 5 days after the end of the regular submission period mentioned above. In this case, you will follow the alternative enrollment deadline.
👉 If you graduate in September, you can request an individual deadline for submitting your high school diploma, along with an individual enrollment date. Please send your request by email to studijni@fi.muni.cz no later than 5 days after the end of the regular deadline for diploma submission.
⚠️ Applicants who fail to submit the authorized conversion of their high school diploma by the given deadline and do not request an alternative or individual submission date within the specified period will receive a Decision on Non-Acceptance due to failure to meet the admission requirements.
Don’t worry, a detailed guide will walk you through everything step by step. If you’re unsure, the Study department will be happy to assist you. 😊

At the Faculty of Informatics, you create your own study plan – you choose the courses, the pace of your studies, and how you schedule your time. Besides IT courses, you can also select from the wide range of subjects offered by the other nine MU faculties – from languages to sports.
➡️ The compulsory courses are not tied to specific semesters, so you can plan your studies according to your needs and preferences.
If you prefer a clear structure, we also offer a recommended study path that will guide you through your bachelor's degree in three years.

Welcome to Brno! Brno – an awesome place to live
Brno is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, but thanks to its compact size, everything important is within easy reach – faculties, dormitories, canteens, libraries, cafés, IT companies, and cultural events. Every fifth resident of Brno is a student, so the city has a vibrant, youthful atmosphere, is open to innovation, and welcomes people who want to grow and move forward. In addition to excellent study facilities, you can also look forward to a rich social life and convenient travel options.

Explore Brno in your free time
Brno is a city of cafés, bars, and student clubs. From alternative venues to modern coworking spaces — everyone can find their favorite spot here. In summer, the city center comes alive with events like the Uprostřed Festival, while winter brings large and always unique Christmas markets. Student cinemas, theatres, and parks like Lužánky are also very popular.
At the end of the spring semester, you can look forward to the FI MU Film Festival and performances by MUNI students from proFIdivadlo. You can also meet friends from other faculties at MUNIday. If you’re interested, you can get involved in student associations, such as SUFI or the Friends of Nordic Wildlife Club.

Getting around Brno easily
Brno's public transport is fast, reliable, and with a city-wide travel pass, one card is all you need for trams, buses, and trolleybuses. Students are entitled to a discount, and an annual pass costs just a few crowns per month. You can get to the city center from anywhere in just a few minutes, and you'll see bikes and scooters on every corner.
Getting to FI MU is also very easy — you can take trams no. 1 or 6 to Hrnčířská stop, tram no. 12 to Nerudova or Klusáčkova stops (also served by trolleybuses 34 and 36), and then it's just a short walk to the faculty. Alternatively, you can take trolleybus no. 32 directly to the Botanická stop, which is right in front of the faculty.
